Tui-Na medical Massage will use oscillating and pressure techniques that differ in force and speed. Tui-na massage can be done as a stronger deep-tissue massage or a more gentle, energetic treatment.
Some techniques are more yin, which is more gentle, passive, and meditative. The yang approach is more active, dynamic, and physical, creating more intense sensations by stimulating deep blockages and knots.
An Indian head massage focuses on the face, head, neck and shoulders, and is a relaxing massage.
Indian head massage combines techniques to include various massage strokes and acupressure points.
An Indian head massage is great for suffers of headaches and migraines, but also gives the following benefits:
Deep Tissue Massage uses a firm pressure, with a slower stroke, to work into the muscle, to release tension and ease tight muscles.
The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints). Deep tissue massage can loosen painful knots and realign deeper layers of muscle.
Deep tissue massage is more specifically focused on chronic muscle tension and stress reduction.
Deep tissue massage helps to treat muscle pain and improve stiffness, but, it can still help to you unwind mentally, too.
Deep tissue massage can be an all over body massage or can be used to target specific areas:
A therapeutic cupping treatment involves warming and placing cups, made of glass, on the skin. By warming the air within the cup, a vacuum is created, and when it is applied to the skin, the tissue is drawn up into the cup. This increases the blood flow, loosens the fascia or connective tissue, and is thought to stimulate healing.
Cupping allows blood and Qi energy to flow much more freely through your body than previously. This non-invasive treatment is great for improving the health of your vital organs and reducing swelling and pain caused by inflammation. Consider it a one-stop anti-inflammatory treatment for all your aches and pains.
Please Note: Cupping can leave markings on the skin where applied. Depending upon the intensity of cupping applied, markings can disappear within ‘approximately’ 7-14 days but this can be dependent upon a person’s skin colour i.e. lighter the skin, the longer marks may still be present.
Anti Cellulite Leg Treatment – more than 1 treatment may be required.
Cosmetic Facial Cupping is carried out using soft silicon cups, which are used to stimulate the skin and muscles of the face. Facial cupping encourages circulation and stimulates the facial cells that are responsible for collagen production.

Gua Sha – pronounced Gwahshah – is a healing technique of traditional East Asian medicine, originating in China around 200BC. The art of Qua Sha is defined as instrument-assisted, unidirectional press-stroking of a lubricated area of the body surface.
Gua Sha means to scrape away fever, the Qua being the scrape and the Sha being the result.
When Gua press-stroking is applied in repeated even strokes, Sha appears in small red dots called petechiae. Within minutes of the treatment the small red dots fade, blending into a deep red blush. Whilst the Sha disappears over an average of four days after treatment, any discomfort is alleviated immediately.
Fundamentally Gua Sha works to release blocked qi, therefore curing the ailment. Modern western research confirms the capacity of Qua Sha to reduce pain and inflammation whilst stimulating an immune protective response that can endure for several days after receiving treatment.
Gua Sha can also change a person’s mood as the issue is released, as metabolic wastes are removed and an increase in fluids supplying nutrients and oxygen goes to the affected area. The client experiences immediate changes in stiffness, pain, and emotional state as the blockage is broken down and the Qi begins to move freely.
Ann, your massage therapist may use this technique, alongside Tui-na medical massage, dry needling and fire cupping, to offer a bespoke treatment for each client.
